MONTHLY MEETINGS

Members at our December 2019 Sounds of the Sixties Quiz

All members are invited to our monthly meetings which take place at the Leigh Community Centre, Elm Road, Leigh-on-Sea, SS9 1SP.  Meetings kick off at 2:30pm (doors open at 2:00pm) and usually finish around 4:00/4:30pm.  Most months we have a guest speaker at the monthly meeting and a programme of upcoming speakers can be found on the EVENTS page.

Attendance is free and not only that but you can stay for a free cuppa and a catch up with friends after the speaker has finished if you wish.

INTEREST GROUPS

Once a member of our U3A, you can get in touch with the Group Leader to join any of our interest groups. These are informal groups of members with a common interest who come together to share knowledge, explore the subject or just join up to do something they all enjoy – such as walking. Some Group Leaders may have special knowledge, others simply make the arrangements and keep group members informed. The emphasis is always on shared learning.  Most Groups welcome non-members for one trial visit by prior appointment and if you wish to continue attending it is a simple matter of enrolling with Leigh Estuary U3A.

Some interest groups meet in members’ homes but most use hired rooms such as those available in the Leigh Community Centre. Where external rooms are hired, those group members share costs between them, usually a few pounds each per meeting. Other costs interest groups might incur such as a visiting speaker or tea and biscuits are again shared between the group members.

More information about interest groups and their activities can be found on the GROUPS page
